You may start your electric, water, and wastewater service with
us by coming into or calling our Business Office at 126 N. Church
Street, in downtown Mishawaka. Our office is open 8-5, M-F. Our
phone number is 574.258.1630.
Notice requirements:
It is best if you can call or visit us at least three (3)
working days prior to the date you need your utility services
started. Although we try to accommodate every request, we cannot
guarantee establishment of service in less than 3 days.
If you have had service with us before:
We will review your account history. If your accounts are in good
standing, we will not require a new deposit
from you. If, however, you have an unpaid bill, we will require
full payment of that bill, in addition to a deposit on your new
service before connecting your service.
If you have not had service with us before:
You will need to complete an application for service. Sometimes
this can be accomplished over the phone. In addition, we will require
a deposit. For apartments
with gas heat, the deposit is $100. The deposit for a total electric
apartment is $200. From a residential customer with a one inch water
meter, the deposit requirement is $175. A list of our other deposit
requirements is available on request. Deposits may be made over
a two-month billing period, but only if payment arrangements have
been made in person at our Business Office.
To avoid paying a deposit:
You may request a credit reference letter from your previous utility
company. We cannot do this for you. Such a letter must demonstrate
a minimum of one year’s good credit standing. Your previous company
can send the letter by fax to 574.258.1710. You will then need to
call us to check on your deposit requirement after we hear from
your utility company reference. At that time, we can take your application
over the telephone.
If you are discontinuing service or moving to a new address served
by us:
There is no need to visit our office. Just call
or email your disconnect
and connect dates and forwarding address. Remember, for your protection
it is best to give three working days’ notice.
Additional information:
A new account service charge will be added
to your first bill.
Payment options include cash, check, credit/debit cards, & EZPay. |
